Itty Bitty Knit Mouse

I work in a laboratory that works with mice.  As a Christmas present to my labmates, I decided to knit a bunch of mice, put them in a cage, and place them in the lab as some cute decoration (the laboratory can be quite grey and drab sometimes).  I made up my own little pattern and churned out about ten of these little guys in multiple colors.  The knit mice went over extremely well: everyone loved them and many of the adjacent labs had to stop by and see our new additions.  We've named them after the types of mice we work with and enjoy their company.

I took a few pictures of our mouse "Neijmegen."  He's the orange mouse in our lab and I propped him up with some of our equipment today.  In the future, I'll post some more pictures of our mouse collection and their home.

A few more pictures after the break...

Project 1: Pretty Purple Pig

A friend of mine just recently had her first child, an adorable little girl.  My freshman year of college, she was my RA and actually taught me how to crochet.  At that time, I just worked on making scarves and really simple items.  Now that I can make something slightly more "advanced," I thought I would make her something for her new addition.

This pig pattern is from Knitting Mochimochi, by the very talented Anna Hrachovec (at Mochimochi Land).  I absolutely love this book and couldn't recommend it enough.  It has truly inspired me to try new things with knitting and is enjoyable from start to finish.  I'm certain that I'll be making more posts from patterns in this book in the very near future.

I chose to make the pig purple because I had just purchased some lighter purple yarn and thought it would be a great "alternative" pig color.  This little porcine creature comes with its own bright green bee hive wig, my personal favorite of the wig patterns outlined in the book.

A few more pictures just below!

What is the Knitosome?

Pattern from
"Knitting Mochimochi"
Mochimochi Land
I'm Bryan.  I like knitting.  Since you're visiting this blog, I'm venturing to guess that you do too.  I've only been knitting for a few years and recently began to try to make some more exciting patterns.  I like small, cute projects, similar to amigurumi but with knitting.  I started this blog as a way to easily share what I'm working on and completed projects.  In the future, I may include some tutorial-like posts about how I knit along with (hopefully) helpful illustrations.

I hope that you enjoy your visit.  Happy Knitting!
