Knit Mailbox

Why is it that the most ridiculous knit things are the cutest?  First there was the adorable knit hotdog and then there was the tiny caveman.  A knit caveman.  Awesome.

Today I present the tiny knit mailbox from the book Teeny Tiny Mochimochi.  While it might look complicated and it does have lots of pieces, it was a snap to knit the mailbox up and put all the pieces together.  I was surprised at how straight-forward this pattern was, but all of Anna Hrachovec's patterns are fantastic that way.

Tiny Pear

I've begun a foray into knitting fruit, and this is certainly my favorite - a tiny pear.  It's only about an inch tall, but  for what it lacks in size, it makes up in resistance to spoiling.  While a normal pear would rot in a week or two, this tiny pear is completely resistant to rotting.  Quite a feat, huh?  Well, maybe not that exciting...

Tiny Baby

Since I'm an only child, my parents think it's my sole responsibility to reproduce and carry on the family name.  Well, since that just plain ain't happening right now, I found an alternative: I have knit my offspring.  This is my knit baby, which doesn't have my eye or hair color.  Actually, this baby doesn't even have a nose and is made out of yarn.

Tiny Sailboat

I have named this sailboat Charlie for no good reason.  He took all of about twenty minutes to knit and is exceedingly adorable.  Enjoy a few pictures below of Charlie sailing the open (hand-drawn!) seas.

Muriel the Tiny Mermaid

This is Muriel, a cousin to the more famous mermaid from those Hollywood movies.  No, she's not bitter, but please don't ask her to get her cousin's autograph.  Because she won't.  Jeez, just lay off it already.  Anyway, Muriel has better hair and a lot more thing-a-ma-bobs in her undersea cave.  She's got way more fish-friends than her cousin ever did.

Some more pictures (of Muriel) below!

Tiny Hotdog

This hot dog isn't any ordinary hot dog.  That's mainly because it's made out of yarn.  Also, it's not a Chicago or New York dog - it's from Milwaukee and tastes like beer and cheese.  Not really a bad combination, if you can ignore the yarn taste.  Since today is the Milwaukee Brewers' opening day, isn't it appropriate that a hot dog is featured on this blog?  Yes.  It is.

This is probably one of the best patterns in the Teeny Tiny Mochimochi book.  Admittedly, all the patterns in that book are adorable, but the tiny hot dog is awesome.

Tiny Caveman

This is Jacques, the tiny caveman.  He's sophisticated: he enjoys fine Italian espresso, poetry, and clubbing saber-toothed tigers.  His caveman club works not only to catch prey but also to act as a cane when he gets tired.

The pattern for Jacques came from Teeny Tiny Mochimochi, which I have nearly finished.  I'm really not sure what I'm going to do once I've finished the book, since I haven't found any patterns that are nearly as cute.  I've got a small book of amigurumi crocheting, so that's possible.  Otherwise, maybe I'll need to start making my own patterns in the near future...

A few more pictures of the adorable Jacque below.

Tiny Airplane

This is Oliver, the  airplane.  He features 150 seats with no leg room, no on-board entertainment, and no in-flight meals. What did you expect?  He's made out of yarn.

Tiny Robot

This is my tiny robot, named Nancy, who helps me with my calculus at work.  She clearly isn't much help because she's actually made of yarn, if you didn't notice.

Again, this pattern came from Teeny Tiny Mochimochi (author's blog here).  I've finished almost this entire book in a little over a month because I'm obsessed with it.

Despite her lack of calculus skills, Nancy does photograph well.  Catch more images below.

Itty Bitty Elephant

Orange elephants are one of nature's wonders: they're gigantic, they're orange, and they don't exist.  That's why I had to knit one.  I'm going to call this little guy Jorge because it seems like an appropriate name for whatever reason.  I made him just a few weeks ago from the Teeny Tiny Mochimochi book (author here).  This pattern was probably one of the easiest to complete in the book - there aren't too many parts to the elephant body, and it was really straight-forward.  I keep thinking that this pattern would be great to make an entire herd of elephants - actually a parade.  Plus, who doesn't like a cute, oddly-colored elephant sitting around?  Yes, that's right: everyone loves a cute oddly-colored elephant.

Enjoy more Jorge below.
